Milwaukee: five Fall favorites, appetizer edition

App-y Fall, hankr users! Fall is in full swing, so this week we're highlighting some Fall- inspired appetizers. As we've mentioned before, we are big fans of appetizers at hankr. We see them as a way to get a sneak peek into what you can expect out of a meal. Also, we're a bit excited about Fall.

Without further ado, we present you with our Fall favorite appetizers!

Roasted Beets from Bacchus

We're hooked on this appetizer not only because of the beets (beets = Fall, right?), but because of the fried goat cheese curds. If you didn't think it could get any better than fried cheddar cheese curds- these fried goat cheese curds may make you reconsider. The warm, tangy curds mix exceptionally well with the sweet marinated beets. The dish is topped with baby arugula, which leaves a peppered taste in your mouth.

With crispy Fall weather in full swing, we're choosing to seek comfort in a nice warm bowl of bisque. Carnivor's  rich and creamy Lobster Bisque makes us feel cozy inside,  and ultimately eases the pain of passing of patio season. The dish is topped generously by butter poached Maine lobster tail.

Cauliflower is an emerging trend this year, popping up in many different variations, and Distil delivers a notable offering with their Moroccan Cauliflower appetizer. These crispy bites of cauliflower are topped with parmesan butter, preserved lemon and harissa. The harissa, which is a hot chili pepper paste, leaves a touch of heat, and the preserved lemon adds a welcome tang.

Cafe Grace's Rillettes Du Jour appetizer is like a Thanksgiving feast in a bite. The potted meat, which rotates daily between duck and pork, is a tender explosion of flavor. The Rillette is paired with a cherry gastrique, coarse mustard and toasted, sliced baguette. This dish is great for sharing, but we understand if you keep this one for yourself!

Cutting through the Diver Scallops at Milwaukee Chophouse is like cutting through butta'. Milwaukee Chophouse serves the scallops with an orange saffron sauce (which is so Fall), pancetta crisps and micro herbs. While the real MVP of this dish is the scallops, the pancetta crisps gets an honorable mention.
