A Guide to Milwaukee's Beer Gardens

We owe many thanks (and prost 🍻) to Milwaukee’s German immigrants, who, in the mid-19th Century, brought biergartens and Gemütlichkeit (friendliness) to the parks. Since then, beer gardens have become a summer staple for Milwaukee’s beer enthusiasts.

Beer garden season is among us, and we want to make sure you know where and when you can enjoy the frothy beverage (and accompanying Bavarian pretzels) at communal tables.

Milwaukee County Park's Beer Gardens

The Landing at Hoyt Park

1800 N Swan Blvd, Wauwatosa, WI

Enjoy live music at communal tables while sipping drafts, like Surly Hell Lager, or Spaten Optimator and snacking on a Cranky Al's Pizza or a Bavarian Style Pretzel.

Estabrook Beer Garden

4600 Eastabrook Dr, Milwaukee, WI

Did you know the Estabrook Beer Garden is the first public beer garden in the U.S. since prohibition? This authentic gem is modeled after beer gardens in Munich, Germany, and serves beer imported from the Munich Hofbräuhaus.

South Shore Terrace Kitchen + Beer Garden

2900 S Shore Dr, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The South Shore Terrace Beer Garden boasts gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee skyline. The food menu features favorites like Carrot Fries, Miller High Life Beer Battered Cheese Curds, and a Usiger's Bratwurst.

Milwaukee's Craft Beer Garden at Humboldt Park

3000 S Howell Ave, Milwaukee, WI

The Milwaukee County Parks and St. Francis Brewery team up every summer to bring you an oasis of craft beer. Looking for some eats while enjoying your frothy beverage? Expect to see various wursts on the menu, including a Vegetarian Frankfurter on a pretzel roll.

Whitnall Park Beer Garden

N Root River Pkwy, Greendale, WI

Whitnall Park is now home to a permanent beer garden, located on the Root River Parkway. Concessions include domestic and craft beer, cider, Pepsi products, wine, and a variety of snacks.
